The theme for the celebration was “30 Years of Child Development through Quality Education”.

The half year long programme was launched on January 31, 2009. To start the day, there was a sponsored walk with Students, Parents, Representatives from SOS-friendly Organizations and Teachers. They walked through the principal streets of Tema dancing to the tune of soothing music, which made it more relaxed and interesting, after which they all retired to the school premises for the launching.

The opening prayers were said by Mr. Muange, a Tutor at the school, after which Mr. Kow Kakraba Yamoah, Head of School welcomed all present. He stated the fact that the school has come a long way and proud of its achievement in providing quality education for the past thirty years.

Dr. George Dorson Ahmoah, Director of Strategic and Corporate Affairs, Ghacem was the Chairman for the occasion. He launched the 30th Anniversary, congratulated parents, teachers and the entire student body for making the occasion a successful one. He was overwhelmed and impressed with the school’s performance over the years and promised to support and also to keep a lasting relationship with the school.

Rita Owusu, Head of Communications, Marketing and Fundraising of SOS Children’s Villages, launched the series of events lined up for the half-year long celebration. She urged Corporate Bodies and Philanthropists to assist in the area of sponsorship to make the celebration a success and a memorable one. Parents were encouraged to patronise the souvenir items for sale and to attend all activities earmarked for the anniversary. She mentioned among other activities lined up for the Anniversary, a Drama to be performed by students of the school on May 1, 2009, Food Bazaar, Fun Fair Games on July 18 2009, and Community services which will be at the Tema Urban Health Centre. Climax of the celebration will be the Speech and Prize Giving day, an exhibition and a Durbar on 25th July. She acknowledged the representatives of Ash Foam Company Limited, Silver Star Auto Limited, Nestle, Ice Cool and Ever Pure Water among others who had offered sponsorship and also graced the occasion.
