In Cochabamba, Bolivia we have a vocational training center that specialises in catering.
I was drawn to this picture as the cake is so impressive. This cake has been decorated by a student at the SOS training center in Cochabamba, where other young adults learn to bake and decorate to this standard.
At the training center there is a bakery where students bake bread and cakes which are then sold in the restaurant "Lactobar". The center has been running since January 1998 and takes 30 studients at a time.
The initial motivation for building the SOS Vocational Training Centers in Bolivia was to help counteract the high rate of illiteracy in the country. These facilities are open to both SOS Children's Village children and children and young adults from the neighbourhood.
SOS Children has also been running Social Centers throughout Bolivia since 1988. The centers offer working couples and single-mothers day-care facilities and medical assistance for their children. The aim is to help the families improve their standard of living.

A view from a family house and snow-covered garden in Children's Village Nan Chang, China.
Here is a little snippet of life from China to go with the picture of the clean white snow there.
The Nan Chang village has extensive green areas with many flowers and trees. This is a very attractive place for the children to grow up.
The children from the SOS village attend the local Nanchang Forest Park School along with the children in the Nan Chang neighbourhood.
