Children dancing in a circle during the Little Sun festival at Children's Village Da Lat, Vietnam.
SOS Children's Villages of Vietnam celebrated its third Little Sun festival this year at Da Lat in which 120 children participated and had fun for eight days.
The idea is that once a year all the children of SOS Villages in Vietnam and the surrounding communities get together. It has been christened as Little Sun Festival.
From 1 July to 8 July the children went mountaineering, sightseeing and took part in a number of other activities. "It's a kind of holiday camp, it's also a very interactive event for the children of the host SOS Children's Village," said the national director Do Tien Dung.
All the children had a wonderful time. They shared their feelings and experiences and discussed a range of topics that interested them. "No doubt, our knowledge has been increased while being part of the event and we have won some good friends also," said a participant from SOS Children's Village Go Vap.
Drawing, painting and some other competitions were organised to discover the creativity among the children. The kite-flying competition was also a great attraction.
In the north of Da Lat there is Longbian Mountain where the children went climbing. The minority hill people were celebrating their Cong Chien festival at the same time and the children enjoyed this amazing event. Longbian, which is called the Lady Mountain, is an ideal place for mountain climbing, jungle trekking and spotting rare bird species.
The children went to the Xuan Huong Lake area, another hotspot of the Da Lat city, and rode twin-bikes around it, rode skateboards and enjoyed a ride on the cable cart.
