A happy boy going home after school in Bo, Sierra Leone.

I've been reading about the plans for the schools in Sierra Leone in 2009. I'm excited about these plans, I look forward to the review at the end of the year, to see if they meet the targets. Here is are the plans:

Our SOS projects in Sierra Leone have made an impact on the communities there. The SOS Social Centre Goderich, the SOS Children's Village Makeni, the SOS Children's Village nursery school in Makeni as well as the SOS Primary School Makeni have all had a good effect. Our main aim now is to maintain the positive signs and continue our work of child care, education, helping young adults and families in the community. Our national plan for 2009 has the following significant impacts:

Makeni currently helps 310 needy children but the plan is to help 390 children by increasing the family budgets and school expenses.

To continue to operate for the fifth year in double shifts in-order to accommodate more students seeking quality affordable education. A similar situation exists in our SOS Children's Villages nurseries in Freetown which are operating double shifts system and accommodating more pupils and students. The SOS Children's Village Nursery Makeni as well as the SOS Primary school Makeni will provide quality education to over 300 students by the end of 2009.

In 2009, our family support programmes will be extend to Bo and Makeni, starting January 2009.

Our SOS Schools of Freetown and Bo will implement 2.6% of their total budget to scholarships to deserving pupils and students.
