Ms Katerina Ilievska from the charity in Macedonia spent Easter in Romanian. This is her experience.

"At first it seemed that Easter in a foreign country would be a lonely experience. But, after spending the holiday together with the children and SOS mothers from SOS Children's Village Bucharest, I realized it didn't feel close to being home. It felt as if I were at home. It all happened on Easter in 2005."

"All Romanian households look very special on Easter Sunday and the village is no different. All houses were neatly cleaned, bright and full of some new energy. The children were especially excited with all the visitors."

"The children had prepared a short show for their SOS mothers and friends. First the youngest ones did a hopping bunny and duck dance, then a child sang a beautiful Romanian folk song and it ended with a ballet performance. In one word: superb!"

"Later we enjoyed a traditional lunch in the afternoon, with a relaxed atmosphere and great Romanian food, traditional folk dancing and surrounded by smiling children. This was the perfect way to spend Easter. It felt like ... home."

Here is a bit of background on the SOS Children's Village Pokhara, it shows where the secretarial training fits in.

The SOS Children's Village Pokhara consists of twelve family houses. The SOS Children's Village also runs a School including an SOS nursery, a primary school and a secondary school.

All these institutions are open for children of Tibetan refugees and the other children from the neighborhood as well.

There are also different SOS Youth Facilities and youth communities where young people live together under the care of a youth supervisor. They continue their education and training in order to prepare for future independence.

Close to the SOS Children's Village, there is an SOS Vocational Training Centre with various workshops. At this centre, young Tibetans from all over Nepal and also from the Tibetan SOS Children's Villages in India can learn various technical and office skills.

They can become carpenters, turners, metal workers, electrical and electronic engineers, secretaries or information technicians. The SOS Vocational Training Centre also includes a canteen and dormitories for boarding students.
